The Path to Lean Series - Doing More With Less

MTI's full series of Lean Training helps you realize your company's ability to reduce waste, improve quality, and improve customer service.

LE 101 Principles of Lean Manufacturing

One-day workshop covering the principles of Lean Manufacturing and how to apply them. During the simulation exercises, you will apply Lean concepts such as standardized work, visual signals, batch-size reduction, pull systems, and more. Experience first-hand how Lean improves quality, reduces cycle time, improves delivery performance, reduces Work-in-Process (WIP) and demonstrates profit.

LE 111 Lean Tools

Lean Tools help companies with any type of systematic function to streamline information flow including the gathering, improving, moving, and storing of information. This workshop will show you how to take many of the principles successfully used on the manufacturing floor and implement them to realize the same benefits in a non-manufacturing setting. Lean Tools will help your company increase capacity, improve customer service and reduce process time.

LE 202 Value Stream Mapping

During this workshop you will use the powerful Value Stream Mapping (VSM) tool to create a current state map for "Acme Stamping," a real-world firm featured in a detailed case study. You will use the VSM icons and learn the common language of Lean as you draw your current state map for Acme. Next, you will analyze Acme's current state, find the non-value added activities, and then draw a future state map that eliminates waste. By the end of the session you will have developed a plan for attacking non-value added activities.

LE 203 The 5S System

This workshop offers you an opportunity to experience first hand how the 5S System reduces waste in the assembly area of a simulated production facility. Participants learn the concepts of the 5S System and then apply them to transform a cluttered, disorganized production area into a clean, organized, and orderly workplace.

LE 204 Setup Reduction

Use this workshop to learn the principles of Setup Reduction and the Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) system. Then apply the four-step Changeover Improvement Process to achieve Setup Reduction in a life-like simulation exercise. By the end of the day you'll experience reduced costs and setup times and see machine capacity increase at the same time.

LE 205 Cellular/Flow Manufacturing

Experience the results of Cellular/Flow Manufacturing principles in this workshop as you apply them yourself in a life-like simulation. First you'll learn the concepts of Cellular/Flow Manufacturing. Then you'll help transform your traditional batch production area to a cellular layout and see the dramatic changes in the way the product flows, so that customer demand is met on time, every time.

LE 206 Pull Systems/Kanban

Explore the process of designing and implementing Pull Systems/Kanban through classroom instruction and hands-on production simulations in this workshop. This course introduces participants to the principles of Pull Systems/Kanban, applies them in a life-like simulation, and demonstrates how they can be applied to a variety of manufacturing situations.

LE 207 Total Productive Maintenance

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is the process to  maximize the productivity of your equipment for its entire life. In this workshop you will learn about Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and how it is related to capacity. Learn how to apply 5S techniques on your equipment and see the tenfold effect they have. Learn about the six major equipment-related losses how to find and eliminate them. Learn what causes 75% of equipment breakdowns. By the end of the day you'll experience how these techniques achieve dramatic improvements in uptime and increased equipment effectiveness.

LE 212 Office Value Stream Mapping

The office version of our most powerful productivity improvement tool! This intensive, two-day workshop is conducted at your facility by MTI experts who will teach your employees how the flow of work impacts the total cost of your products and services. Find extra capacity within your design, estimating, and other administrative tasks. Focus on task quality and efficiency improvement projects. Employees and managers will learn how to manage using Value Stream concepts. They will identify sources of waste in the value stream, develop a plan to eliminate non value-added activities and improve the capacity of your administrative processes.

LE 240 Lean Leader Development

The Lean Leader Development Workshop will help supervisors and managers understand the keys to success in a Lean Enterprise environment.  Participants will learn tools and techniques to enhance their ability to build an empowered workforce while applying what they learn immediately. The purpose of this workshop series is to understand and address certain cultural changes required to assure a successful transformation to a lean manufacturing environment.
