MTI's new BIS events to offer focused, practical information.
Are you looking to expand and develop your business in 2007?
If so, you'll want to check out the new Business Innovation Series (BIS) event lineup from MTI and the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA). New for 2007, the BIS events take a focused approach to the needs of manufacturing and technology companies. Each seminar will feature in-depth information on a timely business topic. And each will provide practical content that attendees can put to work immediately.
ON THE LEADING EDGE
MTI has long provided leading-edge information through a variety of business service offerings. It offers business growth and strategic planning consulting. It provides a range of new product development and tech transfer services. Its Lean Enterprise Training workshops offer a mix of multiple- and single-day seminars on how to reduce waste and improve efficiency. But as Lynn Kenagy Shelton, MTI's director of publishing and events, notes, the BIS events offer a new option. "For the last several years, MTI and MHTA have been putting on Technology Awareness Forums on timely techrelated topics; they have been well received and quite popular," she notes. "But our customers have also told us that they want more business-focused information that will help them compete better in today's economy. We've heard that input and have changed the format slightly. Our goal with the BIS series is for businesses to be able to walk away from the events with information that they can use to help run their companies more efficiently and which will help them find new market opportunities."
For example, consider the June 2007 BIS offering on RFID technology. In the last few years, the RFID market has been growing exponentially. While RFID system costs have steadily declined, a host of innovative new applications have been emerging, making the technology a practical option for everything from supply chain automation to production line enhancement to inventory management and much more. Perhaps the only downside of all this good news is that it can be extremely difficult for companies to sort out precisely how RFID can help their firms—much less determine how to evaluate prospective providers. As Shelton notes, the RFID BIS will provide "context for attendees on the RFID marketplace, and show them how the market has developed—and where it's headed. Our speakers also will fully explain the current state of the technology and offer their insights on how users can maximize ROI from any investments they make in RFID."
As Shelton adds, MTI has a wealth of expertise to draw on for its BIS event speakers. "MTI's Business Services consultants specialize in helping companies plan and implement technology solutions. They're all experts in their fields—plus they're familiar with the needs of manufacturing and technology companies," she says. "Event attendees will have the opportunity to meet many of MTI's experts, as our Business Services staff members will serve as presenters—along with other, outside experts—at the BIS events."
