The MTI Training Needs Assessment is a six-step process that examines the technical skills required to do the job (or do the job better) as well as looks at the need for interpersonal skills that can enhance job performance. The assessment reviews existing employer training programs to determine the gaps between existing and needed training options.
- At the organizational level, the assessment looks at what employees know about the company, how the company communicates with employees, what motivates employees to do a good job and how future company goals may impact training needs.
- At the process level, the assessment examines what the company does and how departments and jobs are organized around processes.
- At the task level, the assessment evaluates how employees learn about their jobs as new employees, what skills various jobs require and what skills are weak or lacking.
Sound employment policies provide the principles by which an organization governs its employee relations in a fair and consistent manner. Having all policies and procedures in one manual helps employees be aware of what is expected and can prevent misunderstanding about employer policies. In addition, supervisors and managers are better able to implement policies that are clearly communicated in writing.
Written policies also help employers document compliance with the complicated employment laws and regulations.
